Welcome to New Life Recovery in Christ

While there are many programs to assist a person to become free from their addiction, most have a very little success rate. Unsuccessful addiction treatment programs do nothing more than create a roller coaster ride of life for the addict, constantly moving between recovery and relapse.

After examining various programs, I have come to understand the problem. The problem is that they offer no true cure for addiction.

In order to discover the cure for addiction, we must first understand what causes addiction. Worldly programs offer various scenarios that lead to a person possibly becoming an addict. They want us to believe that addiction is the result of some form of trauma we experienced in our childhood. While it is true that trauma can guide us into addiction, it is not the primary cause. Addiction is not a medical or psychological problem. Addiction is a spiritual problem, and the only cure for a spiritual problem is Jesus Christ.

Victory over addiction the way God intended!

New Life Target Goals

The student will come to understand that the Bible is the Word of God and is absolute truth. Furthermore, the student will understand that the Bible is a guide given to us by God to direct humanity in the way of righteousness.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16 -All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The student will come to understand through scripture that addiction is the result of sin and is a spiritual problem.

  • Romans 3:23 -For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

The student will come to understand that sin has a penalty and that penalty is spiritual death and separation from God.

  • Romans 6:23 -For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The student will come to understand that he/she has no power over sin and cannot conquer addiction without divine intervention.

  • Ephesians 2:8 -For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

The student will come to understand that God has made a way for them to have victory over sin and addiction.

  • 1 Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Romans 8:37 - Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

  • Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The student will come to understand that they are not right with God and the lack of righteousness is the reason their sin has gained control of their lives in the form of addiction.

  • Romans 3:10 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

The student will come to understand that God paid the penalty for their sin through the sacrifice of Jesus, making a way for them to become righteous with God.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The student will come to understand that there is a spiritual war within their own lives and the battle ground is their spirit/soul. Furthermore, the student will understand the desire of each opponent in this spiritual war.

  • John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The student will come to understand the new birth offered by God through faith in Christ and repentance toward God.

  • John 3:3 – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

  • Luke 13:5 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

The student will come to understand that through the new birth offered by God all sins are forgiven and God gives them a new life free from addiction.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The student will make a conscious decision to accept or to reject the offer of a new life through the new birth that comes with faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If the student choses to accept God’s gift of new life, they will maintain a life of sobriety through faithful church attendance, Christian fellowship, daily Bible study and an active prayer life.

  • Hebrews 10:25 - Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

  • Matthew 26:41 - Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
